Hi,

When my dishwasher pumps out the water, my sink backs up.  its a 1 and a half sink. (1 full size, 1 half size).  the sink itself is NOT plugged.  when i fill the sink and drain it, it drains fast.  but when the dishwasher pumps out, both sinks back up.  i cannot figure out why this is happening.  both sinks drain fine, why doesnt the dishwasher??

thanks for you help!!

Hi, Did this just start happening or has the dishwasher been draining fine until just recently. It does sound like a clog, try filling the sinks half full of water (one at a time with the other plugged) and plunging them for several minutes. Also if they are draining some after that you can try a liquid drain cleaner. Let me know how it works out. Wink

yes this just started today.  i dont think this has to do with it but i had to replace a tap in the upstairs tub.  i had turned the water off and then when i had turned it back on then thats when the dishwasher started doing this.

the sink drains pefectly.  the dishwasher drain hose is connected to the half sink drain, but that sink drains fine, so does the other.  so i dont know.  i did try Draino earlier today but it didnt fix the dishwasher.
