Hey! Forgive my naivete, but I'm having some odd issues with my toilet. It would be great if someone could clarify what's going on. I have my theories, but I could be completely wrong.

Recently, my toilet has been making odd noises. I've been hearing the sounds of running water even though I wouldn't be using the toilet and even if it hadn't been used for a few hours. The sounds is similar to that of a toilet filling up after use, but no one is using it. I realize that it isn't anything spooky and it's something can, more than likely, be fixed; but I have no idea what it could be. Is it running water from the people next door (sharing the same piping) or do you think it's a leak? Obviously, you wouldn't be able to directly look at my toilet, but I'm wondering if any of you have been through this same thing.
The help would be GREATLY appreciated! Smiley

LOL, this is a VERY common problem. The toilet has a fill valve ( sometimes called a Ballcock) and a flapper that are likely in need of replacement or adjustment.
here's a link to walk you through it. http://www.plumbinghelp.ca/howto_replace_toilet_fill_valve.php
