Hi all.  I am putting a washing machine in a room next to a bathroom, and the only readily accessible drainage is the bathtub overflow pipe.  This runs down to meet the tub drain and then drops into the floor where I assume it meets up with the main line.  Can I connect the washer standpipe to this bathtub overflow pipe?  Since the overflow is not sealed, would I still need a pressure release valve on the standpipe assembly?

I'm relatively inexperienced with plumbing, so please forgive any incorrect terminology, and thanks in advance for any advice.

I WOULD NOT DO THIS. THIS AGAINST CODE ANY WHERE. AN OPTION MIGHT BE TO TIE IN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRAP TO THE TUB AND INSTALL A LAUNDRY TUB THEN DRAIN WASHER INTO THE LAUNDRY TUB
